Antique Hmong Powderhorn | Kub Tshuaj
Large powderhorn with a very sleek figure and gorgeous curve. Circa early 1900's. This horn has an raised and engraved collar, with the lower rest of the horn inlet into a lower tier than the collar—a very rare detail to Hmong powderhorns outside of China. Horn is in excellent condition with a beautifully dark patina, and has been slightly renewed with several layers of oil and wax.
The wooden base cap and one iron buckle on the base of the horn are newly made; everything else is original—even a piece of the hemp string used to connect the horn to the hunter's leather belt is still intact!
Provenance: Luang Prabang, Laos.
