Raj 6 Ntiv | 6 hole HMong Free Reed Flute
These flutes are made by Txam Nroj Vaj (Ngo Cha Do) in Ha Giang, Vietnam. They are commonly referred to as raj 6 ntiv, but if counting the thumbhole, they actually have 7 holes in total. The last hole towards the end of the flute is made to tune the lowest pitch and timbre of the raj and not used for playing.
An order will contain the flute and complimentary cloth case/bag. Every flute is handmade and free-tuned, and typically range between 18 and 22 inches total.
These can play a variety of Hmong musical styles, including raj ntuj tag, kwv txhiaj Hmoob Noom Hej, lug txaj Moob Quas Npab, etc.
