Phom 8 Dos Txhais | 32 Caliber & Long Barrel
Antique Hmong firearm of 8 dos txhais—one of the longest guns I have ever seen. This is among the longest of length Hmong flintlocks were made—to find a longer flintlock than this one is very rare. Although it is very long, this flintlock is of a smaller caliber, making it very light and nimble for its size. Because of its length and caliber, it would make a very accurate phom suab, or "shotgun," albeit a small gauge compared to modern shotguns.
This flintlock has a round barrel (more rare than octagonal barrels) with a beautiful kab teeb phom that fits perfectly in the hand—this is a rare shape to find. Includes lub tsuam pob, ciab mes, zeb ntais, and txoj hlua rub tus ncauj qa. Lub tsuam pob is plaub dais—black bear pelt.
Barrel and lock are in working condition; the frizzen sparks well. This flintlock works very reliably and has been testfired. Recommended maximum load of 60 grains of blackpowder only.
